The minute I graduated from college, I had gotten a job as a secretary for one of my dad’s close friends. He owned a construction firm and needed some help with administrative work, so I was quite happy to accept the position that he gave me. I had heard rumors that he was violating some labor laws but somehow he never got sued. I made some digging and found out that some employees were receiving less than the minimum wage and this really bothered me.
